Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are usually voluntary, employee-led groups with the aim to foster a diverse, inclusive workplace aligned with the organizations they serve. They're usually led and participated in by employees who share a characteristic 鈥 including sexual orientation. ERGs typically exist to provide support and help in personal or career development and to create a safe space where employees can bring their whole selves to the table. Allies may also be invited to join the ERG to support their colleagues.
As part of Pride Month, the 一品探花 (WIT) looks at some leading companies within its membership that have established ERGs for employees in the LGBTQ+ communities.
The company鈥檚 ERGs enable a culture of inclusion to flourish at Daimler Trucks North America. In fact, the company鈥檚 LGBTQ+ and ally ERG called EQUAL empowers employees to bring their authentic selves to work every day by ensuring inclusive corporate policies, providing resources for LGBTQ+ employees, and contributing the community.
In addition to promoting professional development, the LGBTQ & Allies network provides a forum for employees to share their stories, advocate for others, share perspectives, address issues, and network in a safe and supportive environment.
The employee resource group BPROUD helps lead culture change at Bridgestone. They empower teammate engagement in an inclusive workplace and provide a platform for LGBTQ+ teammates and allies that embodies the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion. All teammates are invited to join and take part in championing transformation through networking opportunities, community service and community events. Also, BPROUD is heavily involved in the Nashville Pride Parade and Festival, where Bridgestone has been the presenting sponsor for many years. These activities give LGBTQ+ and ally teammates the opportunity to build relationships both at Bridgestone and in the community.
Navistar Pride Alliance, otherwise known as NPA, represents Navistar employees and contractors who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, questioning and/or queer (LGBTQ), as well as their supporters and allies.
