Plover, WI 鈥� January 7, 2019 鈥� The 一品探花 (WIT) announced today that its 2019 Accelerate! Conference & Expo will take place Sept. 30 鈥� Oct. 2 at the Sheraton Dallas. The venue was chosen, in part, because WIT expects continued growth in participation at the conference and anticipates more than 1,000 attendees. This dynamic and newly renovated downtown facility, which is just finishing a $100 million renovation in February, is one of the only venues that can accommodate WIT鈥檚 solid growth.
According to Ellen Voie, president and CEO of WIT, the conference is experiencing rapid momentum because of the importance of gender diversity in transportation 鈥� an industry that historically has been male-dominated. 鈥淭his is the only conference that solely focuses on encouraging the employment of women in the industry and finding solutions to minimize any obstacles they face,鈥� said Voie.
The conference will feature 60+ educational sessions on critical transportation issues and trends, along with perspectives of the positive impact women can have on the industry. The conference will provide content in four key areas, including operations, leadership, recruiting and talent management, and sales and marketing. The conference also will feature various peer-to-peer networking opportunities and facilitated discussions to open dialogue about the importance gender diversity in trucking. Registration for the full conference is only U.S. $695 for WIT members. Reduced registration fees for professional drivers and students are available.
In addition, the conference will highlight finalists for WIT鈥檚 highly coveted 2019 鈥淚nfluential Woman in Trucking鈥� award, which allows the association to recognize female leaders in the industry. The event also will recognize the 鈥淭op 50 Companies for Women to Work For鈥� in 2019, a new award that is given by WIT鈥檚 official magazine, Redefining the Road.
