For the past twenty years, the issue of truck parking has made the top ten list of industry issues in the annual survey. In 2020, it was the top concern for commercial drivers.

While the (FMCSA) has held numerous listening sessions and offered presentations, the issue doesn’t seem to be alleviated. Reps. Mike Bost (R-IL) and Angie Craig (D-MN) plan to introduce the Truck Parking Safety Improvement Act with the support of Reps. John Garamendi (D-CA) and Susan Wild (D-PA) as original cosponsors.

According to Director of Legislative Affairs, this bill includes several minor changes from the 2020 version which can be found .

For this version, the money will come directly from the Highway Trust Fund. There is also  a provision to ensure public entities are able to contract with private entities to complete projects.

The һƷ̽»¨ does not formally support any bills, as we refrain from lobbying for legislative action. However, many of you, both drivers and carriers, might be interested learning more about this initiative. For that reason, we want to make you aware of it so you can contact your legislators to support or oppose the bill.

If you are a member of the American Trucking Associations, Owner Operator Independent Driver Association, Truckload Carriers Association or numerous other groups, you may already be asked to support this. Again, we are not a lobbying organization so we are providing this information to encourage you to contact your elected officials if you feel strongly about this legislation.
